I created a dress inspired by a bouquet of tulips I purchased. I was challenged to create a flower inspired design with an emphasis on the bust. I laser cut fabric into strips and braided them together to create ropes that I then draped over the base of the dress to create a sort of "cage" structure. When I sewed these together, I could pull parts of the base fabric through the gaps to cause the garment to billow out in certain areas and remain tight in others. I attached these ropes only to each other and to the top and bottom of the dress so that I could change the silhouette of the base whenever I wanted.
